KELSEY RANSON for WEST ELM
An existing apartment located in TriBeCa needed a face lift with a new space plan and some updated furniture and accessories.
BRIGHTON RESIDENCE
JUNIOR STUDIO
A new build single family home situated on a hill overlooking the New River. Inspired by the architecture of Rem Koolhaas, the design of this house uses angles and different levels to define the different areas of the space.
ST. CLAIR RESIDENCE
JUNIOR STUDIO
An old department store building in New York City was recently converted into an apartment complex. A young couple living in one wanted a mid-century modern apartment that still had contemporary touches.
WOOD RESIDENCE
SENIOR STUDIO
This is a mixed use space with a pastry shop in front and a residence for the owner in back (see Flake in Hospitality). Located in the neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn I was inspired by the urban planning and the off-beat feeling this neighborhood is known for. From this my concept became off-kilter, contrast and line. I carried this concept through to the residential side of the building by using contrasting colors to define the different areas in the open living space. I also used off-kilter lines to define the different areas without closing off the spaces.

A group entry for the 2012 IDEC Design for Disaster Relief Competition. We researched the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami that took place in March of 2011 and found that the Japanese were still rebuilding and many were still out of a home. We designed a small shelter that is not only easily shipped and assembled, but also has the ability to be customizable to make the rebuilding process for survivors a little bit more comfortable.
