The concept for this Children's Cancer Center grew from our inspiration of the jungle into support, interlocking, and monumental. To emphasize this concept, the structural columns are highlighted throughout the space by applying attention grabbing materials and finishes, especially in support areas like the nurses’ station. A feeling of community is created by connecting the interior and exterior spaces and further emphasized with the use of woven materials and finishes, with interlocking patterns and textures. With this space we wanted to make the patients feel strong and monumental, we created this feeling through the use of drop down ceilings and darker colors to visually make spaces feel smaller and consequentially the patients feel bigger.
PROTECTING PAWS VETERINARY CLINIC

The inspiration for this design was the fur on cats and dogs, which lead to my concept of warm, protecting layers. I used different scales, curves, and warm colors and textures throughout the building to create a feeling of protection and safety to everyone involved in the patient’s care.
